Product Description
Black Hole Weaponry AR-15 20" Rifle-Length Stainless Steel 1:8 Polygonal Rifled Barrel - 5.56 Chamber
Black Hole Weaponry Barrels employ the use of 416R, match grade stainless steel. BHW Barrels specialize in Polygonal rifling; The shape of the lands and grooves are based on a circle, so there are no sharp corners or edges for the bullet to conform into. This means there is a tight seal and thus less bullet deformation. This rifling form is unique in its ability to allow the bullet to be centered and fully supported by the barrel’s bore. This arc shaped rifling has long been held in very high regard for its accuracy, increased velocity, reduced gas cutting and ease of cleaning.

Fast and Accurate Barrel
I measured velocity for more ammunition in a very favorable summer conditions (T=75F/RH=85%). All ammo is 5.56x45mm (I don't shoot .223). Chronograph was 6 feet from the muzzle. Chamber heat soak was distributed uniformly between tested ammo. @0 rounds was fired for each ammo.
Winchester 62gr OT (G1-0.217): v=3111.4 ft/s; SD=22.4 ft/s; Sound Barrier=650 yards.
Hornady 68gr HPBT (G1=0.343); v=2993 ft/s; SD=20.7 ft/s; Sound Barrier=875 yards.
Hornady 75gr HPBT (G1=0.372); v=2828.6 ft/s; SD=48.6 ft/s; Sound Barrier=875 yards.
Black Hills 77gr SMK OTM (G1=386); v=2864.6 ft/s; SD=37.2 ft/s; Sound Barrier=925 yards.
This barrel is very fast. As I commented before I got some very good results at 600 yards last winter. So far this is an excellent SS barrel I tested in terms of accuracy and velocity. -
Update on this barrel
Went shooting today (T=21F; RH=98%) from 200 to 600 yards.
After re-zeroing my scope at 200 yards (was using it at higher temps and lower humidity) I recorder 0.75 inch 5 rounds group at 200 yards. That was the best group of the day. Shot another group and stayed under 2 inches with 10 rounds.
Than moved to 600 yards (calm weather). Shot 2 groups with 5 and 8 rounds. The first group ended up at 5.88 inch and another 5.38 inch.
I had another rifles to try so I stopped there. -
Very Nice
Nice piece of hardware

Some Bullet Velocity Measurements
Finally got another chronograph and measured velocities out of my new build with this barrel. T=57F/RH=41% (all ammo is 5.56x45mm, 20 rounds)
IMI razor core 77gr OTM: Velocity=2802 fps/SD=27 fps
Black Hills 77gr OTM: Velocity=2799 fps/SD=30.8 fps
Black Hills 77gr TMK: Velocity = 2788 fps/SD=27 fps
As expected faster than factory claimed 2750 fps. IMI is loaded hot and it will produce 2720 fps from 16 inch Windham Weaponry 1 in 9 HBAR (tested same day as this barrel). -
Accurate Barrel
I bought this BHW 20 inch barrel as replacement for my Stag Arms 20 inch HBAR (one of the worst barrels I ever had). Just managed to shoot it today. Very accurate (I free floated the rifle too). I had swfa 10x42 optics on my rifle. After sighting in at 100 yards and getting some impressive results (under 1 inch easily 5 or 10 rounds if I do my part) I moved to 200 yards (I zero my ARs at 200 yards). Temperature was 22F. Wind was 5mph but coming in gusts which I tried to avoid. I had targets at 200 yards. I shoot multiple 10 inch groups after zeroing in. They all ended up under or around 2 inch. Average group was around 1.75 inches at 200 yards. I used Black Hills 5.56x45mm OTM 77gr. After that I tried to measured muzzle velocity but stupidly shoot my chronograph.
This barrel is meeting and exceeding my expectations. -
BHW 20” Barrel
This barrel is by far the most accurate barrel I have had on my AR-15. After following BHW’s barrel break in recommendations it’s hard to find a load that doesnt shoot sub-moa.

Brothers build
I used it for my brother's build 20in barrel on a carbine receiver. He sighted in at 25m and went through the break in period. He told me he pulled it out of the closet and went to the range a couple weeks ago and was holding a tight group at 100m.

future 3gunner
Look and fit are awesome. 5 stars might be premature seeing that I haven't shot it yet. Feedback on this barrel leads me to believe 5 stars is a proper rating. We'll see.

SIngle hole performer
Broke in barrel per Black Hole recommendations and during the process shot a single jagged hole at 100 yards with Hornady 68 grain FMJBT Match over 24.8 grains for RL 15. Couldn't be more pleased
