Product Description
Black Hole Weaponry AR-15 18" Mid-Length Stainless Steel Blackened 6.5 Grendel (264 LBC) 1:8 (NEW twist) Poly Barrel
Black Hole Weaponry Barrels employ the use of 416R, match grade stainless steel. BHW Barrels specialize in Polygonal rifling; The shape of the lands and grooves are based on a circle, so there are no sharp corners or edges for the bullet to conform into. This means there is a tight seal and thus less bullet deformation. This rifling form is unique in its ability to allow the bullet to be centered and fully supported by the barrel’s bore. This arc shaped rifling has long been held in very high regard for its accuracy, increased velocity, reduced gas cutting and ease of cleaning.

BHW 6.5 Grendel
Barrel looks good and quality appears to be excellent. Will know more once it is properly broken in.

BHW barrel and Areo upper
This combination truly can not be beat, tight upper, and tight groups.

very impressive!
Barrel met and exceeded all expectations. I only had 50 meters to zero and break in the Barrell but easily put 10 rounds in one ragged hole at 50 meters off of a bipod with factory Hornady 123 gr SST. Highly recommend this barrel for hunting/SPR type applications. Balances perfectly with a Magpul fixed rifle stock

3 shots, 100 yards .633" group.....
with factory hornady amax loads. That's outstanding accuracy right there (about 5/8"). Especially with ammo that can be picked up off theshelf at Bi-Mart.
The SSTs were not as good (1.27") but that is still plenty acceptable for 400 yard and under deer hunting. I love this barrel. The finish is nice as well.
The only downside is that the rifle is overgassed. The brass is ejecting around 2 o'clock. I will add an adjustable gas block later on and that will fix it, but . I think the 18" .264 lbc;s should just come standard with rifle length gas.
Nonetheless, I am a believer and BHW will be my barrel choice from now on. -
Great Quality Barrel!
Fit and Finnish is excellent. I grabbed my special gas block dimple tool, and was about to use it, just to see that the barrel already is machined to locate the set screw on the block, nice touch. Poly barrel is nice too! Nice barrel, and I will look to BHW for my next build.

Shocked by initial results.
I purchased this for my first 6.5 Grendel build. I have only shot out to 100 yds for the initial break-in period but what I found shocked me.
I fired several rounds to get an initial sight in point at 25 yards then went to 100. I pulled 2 out of my last 10 rd group but other than that I ended up with 2 ragged holes (adjusted scope between 5rd groups).
Fit and finish are as I expected and no issues so far. I am pleased. -
Good barrel,
I am pleased with this one so far. The barrel arrived Well packaged and protected.
My only concern with this barrel is the type 1 bolt. It's odd that they(BHW) settled on using the weaker design.
I like the way that the barrel shoots, I sort of wish I'd been patient enough to order a custom fluted version from BHW, but I couldn't resist the free upper and short wait time. The upper is a little loose with my lower, and needs to be shimmed. I paired this with a 13 inch alpha rail and a magpul STR lower build kit. The weight of the STR balances well with the 18 inch barrel.
The bolt I used (from elsewhere) had the typical failure to eject issue and I mangled about $8-10 in new brass. I pulled that apart, filed the extractor and polished it using white rouge. Brass is now ejecting. I broke in the barrel with 50 rounds, and cleaned every 5 shots. I still need to tune a load so I can't say much on accuracy just yet. The 6.5 feels like it's shooting very true however. There was no binding on the feed ramps and I had no failure to feed using 10 round C Products mags. All loads were made using lee 6.5 grendel dies, 123gr nosler custom comp, CCI 450 primers, lapua brass and ramshot TAC. My OAL is based on the magazine rather than the barrel. (I'll measure the lands some day)
Brand new lapua brass fit the chamber as expected.
I used a low profile gas block I had in my parts bin and found that I had to tap it on with a light mallet. Tight fit but workable. I didn't have another block on hand to see if it was the barrel or the block that's been in my garage for 2 years making it tight.
